Domodedovo Ready for Victory Day
Domodedovo International Airport is ready for Victory Day celebrations. The aviation harbour annually supports a meeting of war veterans, home front workers, Leningrad blockade survivors and former concentration camp prisoners, as well as their accompanying persons. This category of passengers is serviced free of charge at VIP and business lounges. Veterans are escorted on departure and assisted upon arrival. The service runs from 7 to 11 May.
Airport employees joined the preparations for Victory Day. This year, a concert by the symphony orchestra of the Federal Customs Service (FCS of Russia) was added to the usual events that began with the Victory Dictation, which was written by 39 people. During the concert, customs officers performed the "Victory Waltz" dance at the international departures terminal as their tribute to the heroic past of our country, symbolizing the unity of generations. The concert program included classical pieces and songs from the war years.
A partriotic video dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, created by the Immortal Regiment movement, has been playing at DMA from the 8th of May. On May 9, young members of a children's brass band from the city of Norilsk will perform Great Patriotic War compositions at the check-in desks of Domodedovo's partner airline NordStar at the domestic departures terminal.
142 veterans of the Great Patriotic War connected their careers with the airport in different years. Among them are nine Heroes of the Soviet Union: Daniil Vasilyevich Gaponenko, Ivan Petrovich Zamyatin, Nikolai Stepanovich Izhutov, David Konstantinovich Kuryzhov, Yakov Kireevich Minin, Nikolai Vasilyevich Pysin, Vladimir Fedorovich Roschenko, Ivan Ivanovich Ryshkov, Grigory Averyanovich Taryanik. Descendants of veterans from Domodedovo Airport will take part in the march of the "Immortal Regiment" in an online format. On the morning of May 9, top managers of the aviation harbour will lay flowers at the Obelisk of Glory in Domodedovo as part of celebrations organized by the City’s Administration.
